Diadem is competing in this year’s Birdman Rally at Moomba on Sunday, 8 March.
When we think of youth, happiness, education and safety come to mind. Our early years are meant to be the best of our lives, a time to lay the foundations for a fruitful future. However, countless young people are not so fortunate, and suddenly that quality of life is taken away. It’s tragic.
Our man Todd Dawson will feature in the annual event looking to make the longest leap into the Yarra River, clad in eye-catching costume and craft. He will raise money for Property Industry Foundation, whose mission is to end youth homelessness by donating money and sector skills to create safe spaces.
Once a pole vaulter, Todd knows a thing or two about heights. He’ll take to the Melbourne skies (and waters) for the THIRD time. Recording the furthest jump is an added bonus, but it's not about that; it's about helping disadvantaged youth find their wings.
Diadem calls the heart of Melbourne’s CBD home, and we see the effects of youth homelessness first-hand all too often. We want to do something about this serious and persistent problem by raising money for a charity close to our hearts.

Property Industry Foundation (the Trustee for)
Every night there are 44,000 young Australians without a safe and secure place to sleep. Not every young person is able to live with their family and for many, foster families are not available. They need a safe and secure place to rebuild their lives. The Property Industry Foundation exists to solve this issue. The Property Industry Foundation leads an industry-wide collaboration that has a tangible impact on youth homelessness by raising funds, building accommodation, and providing ongoing support for homes where young people can live safely. It brings together the property and construction industry to build homes for homeless youth through The Foundation’s flagship home building program – the Haven Project. The Foundation fundraises to build each home in the Haven Project. Each $1 raised is then matched with in-kind donations of skills, labour and goods from the property and construction industry. This unique partnership doubles the value of every $1 donated. The Foundation has been building and refurbishing homes for homeless youth since 1996 and aims to build 300 bedrooms for homeless youth by 2025.
